Cystic Acne Treatment - Can Be a Trying Time
By Arnold Hexden

Painful pimples and sore oily skin are signs that you could be suffering from cystic acne, and if you’ve had one of more of these symptoms lately, you should talk to your doctor about the treatment options that are available to you before the problem worsens.

Cystic acne treatment can be a trying time as there no overnight cure, although there are advertisers who would like you to believe it can be. While there are no definite cures for cystic acne treatment that can be said to will benefit every person, the best way to deal with the condition is to try to stop it from incubating and so by eliminating the causes of cystic acne, the course of any needed treatment will be more direct and more effective. There are quite a few over-the-counter products directed at common acne problems which would have little effect as a cystic acne treatment as they are topical solutions and cystic acne forms deep under the skin, which is untouched by topical treatments.

Anyone suffering an outbreak, who has not been using harsh cleansers or topical creams may benefit from beginning cystic acne treatment by washing the area with a light cleaner and applying benzoyl peroxide once or twice a day. It is also advisable to wear light clothing to avoid aggravating the spot by rubbing or chafing. If the initial cystic acne treatment fails to produce results, a stronger over-the-counter solution may be tried, but if that fails a trip to the dermatologist may be in order.

In th majority of cases, an outbreak of cystic acne, if kept clean and untouched, will retreat when the bacterial infection under the skin has run its course; this can take up to two weeks and during this time you must refrain from squeezing the pus from this type of acne as it will only may make the condition worse. The other thing to bare in mind is that squeezing acne spots can be very painful and will only inflame the already uncomfortable situation and may also extend the life of the current infected point. If your skin could be categorized as prone to acne you should take extra care of it; you need to go the extra mile when you wash and always try to use a natural cotton towel to pat the area dry.

Although using a topical treatment may work to some extent, the fact that they are deep in the skin, will cause the results to be limited. Antibiotics work well as a cystic acne treatment when under a doctors care, and with antibiotic treatment all signs of cystic acne should totally disappear in a few weeks. It should be noted however, that care needs to be taken not to over do the antibiotics as, if used too often, the bacteria in the cyst may develop an immunity and stronger measures will need to be undertaken. It is also possible to use Sulphamides as a cystic acne treatment in cases of antibiotic immunity but these should be used strictly as directed as they can cause serious side effects. Typically, cystic acne will run its course and disappear on its own.

The problem of cystic acne is nothing to be ashamed of. Ignoring the problem won’t make it go away, get educated on your options and you can beat the problem sooner rather than later.
