Contact Lens Care
By Ken Wilssens

Today millions of people are switching from glasses to contact lenses. This is because of the ease of wearing contact lenses. People today are ranting and raving about the comfort of contact lenses. However, people are finding it hard when it comes to contact lens care. It is sometimes hard to care for contact lenses and for first time users it might seem like a hard thing to do it. Contact lenses themselves must be handles with extreme care. They are small and easily dropped and lost.

When it comes to contact lens care there are certain precautions that you should take. You should always wash your hands before you handle your contact lenses. You should always take the time to remove the contact lenses carefully and slowly. You should remove the right or left contact lens and place it in the center of the palm. By placing it in the center of the palm you are lowering the chances of the contact lens being dropped or lost. Contact lenses should always be placed in a solution when they are removed. To do this you should use the index finger of the opposite hand and gently rub the solution into the lens for about thirty seconds. To complete cleaning the lens you should always rinse the lens for multipurpose cleaning solution, you should place the lens in the case and then fill the contact lens case with the cleaning solution of choice. You repeat this process with the other contact lens.

Contact lens care for hard contacts is different then for you soft contacts. You should remove the contact and place it in the palm of the hand as you would with soft contacts lenses. You should add two to four drops of hard contacts lens cleaning solution to the surface of the lens. Then using the index finger of the opposite hand, gently rub solution into the lens for about thirty seconds. To complete the cleaning process you should carefully rinse lens thoroughly with fresh tap water, place the lens in a lens case and then fill the case with contact solution, letting the lens soak.
